Psalms – Winter into Spring

Before the mountains were born
or you brought forth the whole world,
from everlasting to everlasting you are God.
~ Psalm 90:2

The weekend is a perfect time to take a nature walk. These are a few photographs of the wetlands near my home: the trees are beginning to bud, the birds to build their nests, the grasses will soon shoot up new growth, the border of tall waving fronds around the swamp will become dense and impenetrable. Even the ordinary becomes divine when I walk in the beautiful world God created.

Grasses bordering the wetlands, their texture is fascinating.

  1. Kathy,
By wetlands, do you mean marshes ? I have often wanted to see a marsh- having read about them so much.
I loved your photos which are reminiscent of autumn but are actually from Spring.
The birds seem to be all excited to take on the new life and with a new outlook.
IT seems like the weather is telling us to shake off our blues and look forward to the very exciting year ahead of us.
Thanks for this post, Kathy !

    1. Yes, they are swampy ground…you can’t really walk on it without sinking. Yes, they do look like Autumn, but this time the russets and pinks are signs of Spring. All the birds are very busy around here. Yesterday I took a photo of a small nest with a long cord of some kind wound through it.

    1. I love their call. We see them here quite often, hear them, they are also near our seashore. When we drive into our favorite ocean town, Strathemere, we here the red-winged blackbirds singing in the swampy area.
